The Kinks’ Ray Davies CBE (above) and jazz veteran Lianne Carroll are among the composers to be honoured at the 2016 Gold Badge Awards.
Davies is one of the most successful and influential songwriters to emerge from the British Invasion of the sixties.
He’s also an award-winning writer of musicals and has collaborated with the likes of Metallica, Bruce Springsteen and Mumford & Sons on top 10 releases.
Carroll has been a pillar of the British jazz and soul scene for over 35 years.
She has collaborated with such diverse artists as Paul McCartney, Gerry Rafferty, Long John Baldry, Ian Shaw, Claire Martin OBE, Joe Stilgoe and drum and bass outfit London Elektricity.
The Gold Badge lapel pins and certificates were presented to them by PRS for Music chairman Guy Fletcher OBE at a ceremony held at The Savoy, London, yesterday (3 October).
Elsewhere, PRS for Music presented its own award to veteran music business lawyer Paddy Grafton Green.
Also honoured at the event were publisher Sally Groves MBE, composer Sir Karl Jenkins CBE, Average White Band guitarist and singer Hamish Stuart.
They were joined by industry lynchpins Janice Long (broadcaster) and Gilliam Moore MBE, director of music at the Southbank Centre, London.
