The Kinks’ Ray Davies and Scottish percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie (pictured) are among the songwriters and musicians celebrated in Queen’s New Year’s Honours List 2017.
Davies has received a knighthood for services to the arts, while Glennie was given a Companion of Honour (CH).
Elsewhere, professor and former rock critic Simon Frith received an OBE for services to higher education and popular music.
MBEs go to Barrie Marshall of Marshall Arts for services to music promotion and singer Marty Wilde for his services to music.
