Content production company Wisebuddah have been selected to create the new Radio 1 Indie Show with Jack Saunders, who will make his debut on the station.
Wisebuddah have appointed Fuzz Chaudhrey as lead producer for the show, moving her from her current role as head of radio at Caroline International.
BBC Radio 1’s showcase for indie and alternative music was announced in June and will begin airing in early September, Monday to Thursday from 11pm to 1am.
The BBC say the show will combine the best in guitar, rock and alternative music alongside entertainment and humour.
Presenter, Jack Saunders, comes to the show after presenting for Kerrang! Radio and Radio X. He began his career in student radio at Nottingham Trent University.
Jack said: ‘This means everything to me, I’ve wanted to be part of Radio 1 since I started listening to radio, so to be asked to join is a dream come true. To be following on from Huw is an honour, he carved my music tastes and to be championing new bands and indie music is a huge privilege.’
Chaudhrey has over 14 years’ experience in the music industry and will be working alongside executive producer Clare Chadburn and assistant producer Bradley Duggan on the show.
On the appointment, she said: ‘I’ve been privileged to help break bands such as The Amazons and Glass Animals, and with the likes of Stereo Honey, HMLTD, Another Sky and Yonaka all breaking through it’s an incredibly interesting time for indie/alt music right now. I’m passionate about helping new bands really achieve their potential and I’m really excited about working with Jack and the team.

The new Radio 1 Indie Show comes alongside the creation of another new show on Radio 1Xtra hosted by Snoochie Shy, who comes to the station from Radar Radio which recently closed down due to financial difficulties.
