BBC Radio 1 is to dedicate more of its September broadcasts to new music with its Even More Music month of special programming.

According to the broadcaster, the season will begin on 2 September with its Radio 1’s Music Reboot – nine Radio 1 presenters will be selected randomly by listeners to provide an hour of new music across the day.

A live lounge session will also be taking place every day of the month with the likes of Ellie Goulding, Arctic Monkeys, Jessie J and London Grammer all providing performances.

Rebecca Frank, editor at Radio 1, said: ‘At a time when there is so much musical choice for our listeners, Radio 1’s curation is as important as ever.

‘We’re back to basics this month, reminding our existing fans and inviting new ones to hear that there’s a place you can get friendly, fun and reliable guidance on all things music, all the time.’

On 2 September, the station will also launch Radio 1’s A-list Vote. This will allow listeners to see the most played releases, then vote for their favourite across the entire month.

Presenters Fearne Cotton and Nick Grimshaw will launch the dedicated season with an extended breakfast show on 2 September.
