PRS for Music is heading to Newcastle to host How To Make Your Music Pay, a free event offering advice on protecting your music rights and making the most from your songwriting.

Taking place on 19 September, the event follows a number of similar such advice sessions in Manchester, York, Liverpool, Sheffield and Leeds.

In the first panel, whether seeking a career in music composition, songwriting, production, publishing, or artist management, anyone involved in the art of music, can learn about the business behind the scenes and how to reap financial rewards from their creative talent. The second panel, which is also free to attend, will specifically focus on sync and help attendees prepare, pitch and place their songs for television in the UK and around the world.

Speakers across the sessions include John Esplen (Wipe Out Music), Keith Armstrong (Soul Kitchen Music & Management) and composers Daniel Lozinski and Roma Yagnik.

Daniel Jones, PRS for Music’s education and outreach manager for the North of England, said: These panels are designed with composers and songwriters at every point in their careers in mind - whether you’ve just written your first song or your fiftieth.

'As a membership organisation, PRS for Music doesn’t just collect royalties on your behalf; we’re also here for creators to turn to for advice and education on the music business.’

While the event is free, space is limited so please ensure you book a space online if you wish to attend. Both non-members and PRS for Music members are encouraged to attend.
