Bell joins from a management consulting background, having previously been the chief executive of Accenture Information Management Services.

In addition to his business experience, Bell has held non-executive roles in arts organisations such as Punchdrunk Theatre and Youth Music Theatre UK.

He is also a longstanding member of the National Theatre’s development board.

As PRS for Music Foundation chair, he will support and lead the charity through its next phase of development.

Bell said: ‘Thanks to the vision and generous support of PRS for Music, its independent Foundation has become an example of best practice to collecting societies across the world. I’m looking forward to being chair of this unique organisation and maximising the role it plays in supporting the next generation of songwriters and composers.’

PRS for Music Foundation’s executive director Vanessa Reed added: ‘I’m delighted to welcome Royce to our board of trustees as our new chair.

Royce’s knowledge of business and the arts and his experience of chairing other entrepreneurial organisations will be invaluable to PRS for Music Foundation’s role as a catalyst for the development of artists and new music across the UK. I look forward to working with him, our board and our partners from across public and private sectors as we move in to our 15th year.’

PRS for Music Foundation is the UK's leading funder of new music across all genres. Since 2000, it has given more than £14m to over 4,250 new music initiatives, awarding grants and leading partnership programmes that support music sector development.
