PRS for Music is supporting the London leg of the Stockholm Songwriting Camp this autumn.
The initiative, which lands at the London Edition Hotel later this month, will gather 21 British and international songwriters for an intensive three-day writing session.
Its aim is to promote creativity and worldwide relationships, without claiming any ownership of the creative rights of the works produced.
Alongside PRS for Music, other supporters include CISAC (the international confederation of authors) and song project platform Auddly. Technical sponsors include M-Audio, Air Music Tech, Genelec, Fender and Aston Mics.
The camp follows a successful event in Paris last month, which was backed by the French collecting society SACEM.
The London leg will kick off with an ‘opening mingle’ on 13 October at YouTube Space, Kings Cross, London, featuring a presentation from Karen Buse, PRS for Music’s executive director of membership and international.
She said: ‘PRS for Music strives to support songwriters and composers throughout their careers, ensuring they are paid when their music is used and offering advice through networking opportunities across the country.
‘We are thrilled to welcome Songwriting Camps to London and help celebrate such a wealth of diverse creative talent.’
Over the coming years, Stockholm Songwriting Camp plans to launch annual camps in Australia, Asia and the US.
