Several PRS members made the Kings New Year Honours list this year, receiving knighthoods, MBEs or OBEs for their service.
Among those who were recognised is YolanDa Brown DL, who received an OBE for services to music, music education and broadcasting. She was joined by Queen guitarist, astrophysicist and animal rights activist Dr Brian May CBE, who was made a Knight Bachelor for his services to music and charity. Robin Millar CBE, Founder and Group Chair of Blue Raincoat Chrysalis Group, was also named a Knight Bachelor for services to music, people with disabilities, young people and charity.
Both singer Janet Kay Bogle and Joe Broughton, Director of The Conservatoire Folk Ensemble, received MBEs for services to music. Meanwhile, George Crawford Bell received an MBE for services to the music industry in Northern Ireland.
Also on this year’s list are a number of key music industry figures, including PPL chief executive Peter Leathem, who received an OBE for his services to the music industry. Outgoing BPI chief executive Geoff Taylor also made the list this year, with an MBE for services to music.
Stoke-on-Trent Classics CEO Michael Lloyd was named an OBE for services to classical music, while Keranjeet Kaur Virdee, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of South Asian Arts UK, was honoured with an MBE for services to the Arts, particularly South Asian Music and Dance.
