PRS Foundation partners with British Council on new International Bursary for talent development.

The pairings of organisations are:

• Cryptic – B’Sarya for Arts (Egypt)
• Drake Music Scotland – Eegeru Contemporary Music Ensemble (Kazakhstan)
• Focus Wales – Gobez Media (Ethiopia) and Nekiss Group (Senegal)

The opportunity to work with organisations in other countries and benefit from each other’s experience and practice of talent development whilst also making connections in a new territory is fantastic for each organisation and the music creators they work with. I’m looking forward to seeing the impact of this new opportunity.’

This exciting new bursary from the British Council will encourage the building of international relationships between music organisations, increase the potential of working in new territories and enable the sharing of knowledge and approaches to the development of talented music creators.

PRS Foundation’s network of Talent Development Partners is currently made up of 55 UK music organisations – ranging from venues, festivals, rehearsal spaces and other talent development experts – and reaches over 5,000 diverse and exciting songwriters, composers, artists, bands, ensembles and producers each year.

The British Council’s Music team works with over 100 countries to connect British musicians, educators and industry people with their counterparts and audiences around the world, providing opportunities to share knowledge and experience different cultures.

All across the world, music creators, and the organisations that support them, can benefit tremendously from new cultural connections and experiences. These bursaries will enable the start of what we hope will be long lasting and fruitful relationships.’

Launched in 2016, the network supports and brings together organisations working on the frontline of talent development across the country, supporting a broad range of music creators in a broad range of music genres, career levels and UK regions. 2021 saw music licensing company PPL become a supporter of the network alongside music charity Youth Music.
