Engines Orchestra, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Snowpoet are among the latest recipients of the PRS Foundation’s Beyond Borders fund.
Glasgow based production company Cryptic, Sound Festival, Falkirk Community Trust and the Wallace Collection Ensemble make up the remaining grantees of the Foundation’s flagship co-commissioning and touring support programme.
The supported organisations will champion composers and performers including Oliver Coates, Ragazze Quartet, Raymond MacDonald, Christian Ferlaino, Rhodri Davies, Colin Riley and Jay Capperauld.
Vanessa Reed, PRS Foundation chief executive, said: ‘This fund encourages creative collaboration across borders, and in doing so enables some incredibly rich commissions to come to fruition. The range and quality of music creators and organisations in this round presents exciting opportunities for audiences in the UK and Ireland to discover new music.’
Beyond Borders was established in 2010 to stimulate collaboration between composers, performance groups and music organisations across the four different UK countries and, since 2014, the Republic of Ireland too.
It is run in partnership with Creative Scotland, supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland’s Open Project Fund, Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
Previous successes include Songs of Separation, a collective of 10 female English and Scottish folk musicians whose album won Best Album at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards this year.
