PRS for Music is hosting its latest Composer’s Seminar to advise emerging composers on the best ways to develop their careers.

Taking place on Saturday 16 January at the home of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) in Glasgow, the free event will consist of a rehearsal, panel and networking opportunities to provide new classical artists with all the knowledge they need to to take the next step in their careers.

The Getting Money From Your Art panel will include expert tips and advice from composer James MacMillan, Will Conway from the Hebrides Ensemble, PRS for Music Foundation’s Naomi Belshaw, Manus Carey from the RNSO and composer Gareth Williams.

Networking and drinks with New Music Scotland, Scottish Music Centre, Creative Scotland, BASCA, ISM and Help Musicians UK will follow in the Strathclyde bar.

Prior to the panel, participants will also have the opportunity to attend a free rehearsal for a performance of Alchemy: The Composer’s Challenge. Discounted tickets are available for the evening’s performance of the same piece.

Visit the Eventbrite page to register for your free tickets and find out how to access the discounted performance tickets.

We attended the previous Composer's Seminar in London and learned why composers deserve more support and the need for greater collaboration among new composers.
