He will provide business intelligence to inform the organisation’s licensing and membership strategy going forward, and will produce economic reports, insight and analysis to the business.

Samuel has worked for a wide range of public and private sector organisations including HM Treasury, Office of Fair Trading, London Stock Exchange and, most recently, British Telecom, where his analysis of customer churn proved pivotal in helping the company secure deregulation in its residential retail markets.

He was educated at the School of Oriental and African Studies where he received a First Class Honours degree in Economics with Geography, and at King’s College, Cambridge University, where he took a Master of Philosophy in Economics.

Robert Ashcroft, PRS for Music Chief Executive said: ‘Maurice is a perfect fit for our organisation which has a complex remit across many sectors. His extensive experience in both technology and finance institutions means that he understands the powerful market transitions impacting our business. This is a unique time for the music industry and I am delighted to welcome Maurice to the PRS for Music team.’

Samuel added: ‘This is a very exciting time to be joining PRS for Music – an innovative company that embraces technology and values in-depth analysis. I look forward to using my experience of communications markets - and transitions within these from analogue to digital - to drive increased licensing revenue for our members.’
