PRS for Music and LSE team up for copyright panel

London School of Economics and PRS for Music will host a panel to assess current copyright law and theft of creative content, involving key figures from the legal, creative and media industries.

The event, entitled The Theft of Creative Content: Copyright in Crisis, will take place on 9 May from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at LSE Holborn.

LSE Professor Andrew Murray, who specialises in copyright law and the role of digital media in society, will lead a panel consisting of Amelia Andersdotter (MEP, Pirate Party), Robert Ashcroft (Chief Executive, PRS for Music), Dr Luke McDonagh (LSE Fellow in copyright law), songwriter Gary Kemp and Ludovic Hunter-Tilne (Financial Times).

Each member of the panel will deliver a 10-minute speech covering the creative economy in the UK, the challenges faced by current copyright law, the delivery of content and reward for creators. Ashcroft will discuss the UK economy, PRS for Music’s work and contribution to the creative industries and its challenges and opportunities.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session. The audience will comprise academics, students, policy makers, music industry contacts and invited press.
