Rush, Steve Wilson and Marillion are among the shortlisted acts for the 2013 Progressive Music Awards.

Spock’s Beard, Devin Townsend Project and Von Hertzen Brothers have also been nominated for the second annual event, which takes place on 3 September in London’s Kew Gardens.

Jerry Ewing, Prog Magazine Editor, said: ‘Given the breadth of amazing music that continues to be made within the progressive field we felt it only right to extend the number of nominations within each category to both cater for this fact and also to give the readers a wider choice of artists and music to consider for their patronage.’

This year there are 12 categories of which seven are reader-voted, with 10 nominees in each to choose from.

Prog rock fans will have the chance to vote for their www.progrockmag.com/awards.

Last year’s winners included Genesis and Rick Wakeman.
