Composers Justin Nicholls, Dan Electro and Daniel Knight were among those honoured at the 2016 Production Music Awards.

Nicholls’ I Smell a Rat received the award for Best Ambient/Minimalist Production Music Track, published by Standard Music Library.

Electro took the Best Jazz Production Music Track for his song Steinway Dreams, published by Cavendish Music.

Elsewhere, Knight’s track Coming Back Around (published by Extreme Music) won in the Best Pop Production Music Track category. For the full list of winners, see below.

The ceremony took place on 25 November in the ballroom at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London.

Hosted by MCPS Production Music, it celebrated the most important and influential creators within the production music industry.

Music used in the latest advertising campaigns, films and television programmes were judged by a panel of 30 experts from across the industry who assessed entries based on composition, originality, production quality, and fit to moving image.

Twelve composition winners and six sync winners were chosen across 18 categories.

Jane Dyball, MCPS chief executive, said: ‘The level of excellence in this year’s submissions just goes to show that the production music industry continues to grow in both quality and confidence.

'With many of the world’s largest production music libraries in attendance, the standard of competition was incredibly high. Congratulations to everyone nominated.’

The Production Music Awards were held in association with MCPS Production Music and sponsored by PRS for Music, Sound on Sound Magazine, The Musician’s Union, Spitfire Audio and production collective, WMP.
