Every year an Elected Performer Director must stand down and an election for the post take place under PPL’s Articles of Association.
Newson will stand for re-election at PPL’s APM, which is being held on 21 November at the Gibson Guitar Studio, London.
The board member, a former-musician in the London Symphony Orchestra, was successfully re-elected to the post in 2010.
Peter Leatham, PPL Chief Executive, will also deliver his first key address in the role at the meeting.
He took over as CEO from Fran Nevrkla in January 2012 – Nevrkla remains in the post of PPL Chairman.
Performers eligible to attend will be notified in early October.
PPL is a collecting society responsible for licensing recorded music for broadcast, online and public performance use.
