PPL has announced a partnership with youth arts charity, Music for Youth, supporting opportunities for talented young musicians of all backgrounds.
The music licensing company will specifically support two of the charity’s initiatives: the Frequencies programme and its Regional Festivals.
Frequencies is a day-long event designed for young people looking to develop a career in the music industry. Young artists and groups aged 21 and under are given the chance to perform, collaborate with other artists, work with professionals, and meet industry experts.
Meanwhile, the Regional Festivals welcome 40,000 young musicians to perform and share their music in almost 50 locations nationwide.
Commenting on the partnership, Judith Webster, chief executive of Music for Youth said: 'We are delighted that PPL will be supporting our work to create opportunities for talented young musicians of all backgrounds, and in particular our work with urban and contemporary artists.
'This is an exciting area of development for us as we move towards our 50th Anniversary in 2020, and aims to reflect the interests and needs of young people UK-wide. With the funding climate being so challenging for arts and education charities, PPL’s support is crucial and makes a real difference.'
Peter Leathem, chief executive at PPL added: 'PPL is proud to be supporting Music for Youth in 2018. Their passion for ensuring young people have the chance to participate in high-quality musical activities regardless of background or musical style is fantastic to see.
'We are glad to be joining the likes of the National Union of Teachers, Vivendi, Unity Trust Bank and Trinity College London as sponsors and we look forward to supporting their work nurturing the next generation of musical talent.'
