PPL is to elect an additional director for its Performer Board at its forthcoming Annual Performer Meeting (APM).
According to the organisation, the number of elected performer directors on the PPL Performer Board will increase from two to three.
This new performer director will be voted in at the APM, taking place on 27 November at the Royal Institute of British Architects, and will sit on PPL’s main board as well as its performer board.
Gerald Newson, chairman of PPL Performer Board, said: ‘After many healthy discussions, it has been agreed that the constitution of the PPL main board will change to allow a further elected featured performer director to sit on the board.’
‘We have worked towards this over the years and are now in a good position to represent even better record companies and performers in respect of the rights that PPL manages on their behalf.’
PPL’s rules require that the longest serving elected performer director steps down and an election held to fill the vacancy. The incumbent may stand for re-election but an alternative candidate can also stand. Mark Kelly is the director stepping down but will also stand for re-election.
The full list of candidates standing for the elected performer director positions will be confirmed and published on Wednesday 13 November 2013.
