Field Music (above), Dutch Uncles and British Sea Power are among the acts slated for the People’s Concert at Manchester’s Albert Hall later this year.
The show, which will celebrate the venue’s musical heritage, was inspired by a century-old concert programme from the hall. It will take place on 11 November pays homage to a concert held on the same date in 1917, after the former Wesleyan chapel had been turned into a music venue.
Headlining back then were The Famous Range Concert Company, a group of classical singers who were joined by an accompanist and a 'humorous entertainer', with admission costing two pennies.
Fast forward to 2017 and the acts also include Boxed In and BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Mark Riley. All artists playing at the concert will be invited to contribute memorabilia and messages to a time capsule that will be hidden inside the venue.
Organisers are appealing for anyone with artefacts from Albert Hall's past to email sabrina@weareindigopr.com.
