The Managing Director and European President of peermusic, Nigel Elderton, will continue on in his role as Chairman of the Performing Right Society Limited for an additional three-year term.
The PRS Board originally appointed Elderton as chairman in 2017, when he succeded Guy Fletcher, OBE.
Throughout his role at PRS for Music he has advised the society on its involvement with landmark music industry events including the passing of the EU Copyright Directive, the launch of the joint venture, PPL PRS Ltd, with PPL, and the appointment of PRS for Music’s CEO, Andrea C. Martin.
PRS for Music has grown to represent 140,000 members and increased its royalty revenues year-on-year.
Elderton began his career at Chappell Music in 1975 before joining EMI Music Publishing the following year.
He remained at EMI for 12 years and in 1992 joined peermusic as its managing director and was subsequently appointed European President.
The Ivors Academy (formerly British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) awarded him the Gold Badge of Distinction in 2005 and in 2007 he was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA).
His most recent accolade was the MPA Gold Badge for distinguished service to the music publishing industry – the Music Publishers Association’s highest honour.
