Next Big Sound, an analytics business based in the US, has topped a list of the most innovative music companies.
A list compiled by Fast Company put the business number one in its chart for ‘making music out of the music industry’s data’, having anticipated the success of the likes of Iggy Azalea, A$AP Rocky, and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis more than two years before they broke.
Parkwood Entertainment, the company set up by Beyonce and her husband Jay Z came second in the chart with their surprise release of Beyoncé’s surprise, self-titled album last December.
French streaming website Deezer finished third with Bop.fm and ticketing agency Ticketfly completing the rest of the top five.
Other companies to feature included Spotify and PledgeMusic.
