The Sage Gateshead will showcase the next generation of musical talent in a new two-day festival.
Taking place at 27-28 January 2017, New Year New Artists will bring together acts from contemporary and classical music to champion emerging acts.
New Year New Artists will bring together rising stars from the contemporary and classical music world, offering audience members the chance to hear the artists of tomorrow in action.
Singer songwriter and pianist Ditte Elly supported by Jake Houlsby will perform the opening evening alongside the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
The ensemble will be joined by Danae Dörken (piano), Asya Fateyeva (saxophone) and Gabriel Schwabe (cello) for Mozart’s piano concerto No. 21.
The afternoon of the second day features seven performances from a diverse range of artists: pianist Christopher Park; sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun; clarinettist Horácio Ferreira; folk band Talisk; pianist Mariam Batashvili; pianist Elliot Galvin; and violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen.
The festival will conclude with an evening comprising performances from alt-country blues singer/songwriter Amythyst Kiah, r’n’b/pop duo Bossy Love and composer/performer Anna Meredith.
