Hands Up for Trad is launching the Tour Directory, a free online service for Scottish artists, musicians, venues and promoters to access new work opportunities.

The project offers comprehensive information to performers looking to get onto the traditional music live circuit and to Scottish promoters and venues seeking access to talent.

It was first piloted in 2016 with a focus on artists, but Hands Up For Trad expect 2017 to be a huge step forward for the initiative as its userbase and data continue to grow.

Simon Thoumire, Hands Up for Trad creative director, said: ‘We are excited to make this year the biggest celebration of trad music. With such a high calibre of burgeoning talent in the Scottish traditional music scene, as well as a real thirst for the genre, we are committed to help the industry thrive.

‘Our Tour Directory will provide artists and friends of the industry some new and exciting opportunities. We’d like to thank Creative Scotland for their continued support – without their help, we wouldn’t be able to create such a strong network of support for musicians.’

Hands Up for Trad is supported by Creative Scotland and exists to promote Scottish traditional music through education, information and advocacy to artists and audiences throughout Scotland and beyond.
