Native Instruments and Mute Records have jointly announce two digital-releases from New Order.
The band have released latest single Tutti Frutti as a DJ-friendly extended version in the STEMS format, along with album track Academic.
According to Native Instruments, ‘the release marks an exciting step forward for the adoption of STEMS, which allows producers to freely interact with a track’s individual musical elements and provides new revenue streams for labels and artists’.
Daniel Miller, Mute Records CEO, said: ‘I was really excited when I first heard about STEMS so am delighted we’re on board with this digital exclusive release from New Order.
‘The band came from the club world in the eighties so for them to be releasing in a format that lets today's club DJs bring their tracks to new audiences, and get creative at the same time, is great.’
In the six months since it was launched STEMS has had over 600 labels and artists sign up to release music in the new format including 50 Weapons, Hospital Records and Toolroom Records.
