Hotly tipped Northern Irish acts Unknown, Girls Names and Little Bear will launch Belfast Music Week at a special London event.

Taking place on 15 October at Gibson Studios, the bands will perform live sets at the evening event hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart.

Unknown is a new electronic producer whose music has drawn comparisons to the likes of Skrillex and La Roux while Girls Names are a four piece guitar band who’ve lit up 18 festivals this year including SXSW and the Great Escape.

Little Bear are from Derry and have just released their debut single Night Dries Like Ink following appearances with John Grant and Imelda May.

Belfast Music Week, which runs 11-17 November, will see Van Morrison awarded the Freedom of Belfast and a tribute concert held for the late poet Seamus Heaney.

A Northern Ireland Music Prize will be launched at the event while a Belfast Music Week Showcase is also due to take place.

Last year saw more than 41,000 people attend over 250 events in 70 venues across the city.
