MusicTank and Word in Your Ear are coming together for a series of events delving into rock ‘n’ roll disasters and what can be learned from them.

Over the next 12 months, the sessions will put different sectors of the music business under the spotlight, with emphasis on learning from past mistakes and failures.

The inaugural Music Biz Blunders: Rock ‘n’ Roll Disasters & What They Taught Me event on 8 November will explore music journalism.

Industry veteran Sylvia Patterson (author of I’m Not With the Band), The Quietus co-founder John Doran and Zoe Howe (Virginia Prize for Fiction shortlister) will all join the discussion.

The panel will be chaired by Word Magazine alumni Eamonn Forde.

It takes place at Fyvie Hall, University of Westminster, London, from 6.30pm to 9pm. Early bird tickets are currently available for £15. See here for details.

A Word In Your Ear evenings have been put together by Word Magazine veterans David Hepworth and Alex Gold since 2012, while MusicTank was established in 2003 as an information hub for the UK music business.

Keith Harris, MusicTank chair, said: ‘There are of course thousands of humorous music business stories, it is great to be able to learn from some of them, and hopefully this Word in Your Ear series will facilitate exactly that.’

David Hepworth, co-founder of Word in Your Ear, added: ‘We're delighted to announce this new series in partnership with Music Tank; like us they offer quality chat around music. Together we make the illuminating entertaining and the entertaining illuminating.’
