The Sonar System is set in the distant world of Tesfa, where instead of the sun, the planets revolve around a gigantic speaker and the inhabitants spend their time building sound systems and listening to music.

It has been developed by Let’s Go Yorkshire and forms party of the Sound System Culture national tour, which documents the history of reggae sound culture in cities across the UK.

The also book supports the #WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign, encouraging and celebrating cultural and ethnic diversity in children’s literature.

For more on the Sound System Culture national tour, including the upcoming exhibition at Birmingham’s Drum Arts Centre, please visit http://soundsystemcultureblog.tumblr.com/

The exhibition is part of a national tour documenting reggae sound system culture in Britain, which launched in Huddersfield in 2013 and is set to continue to London in February 2016.

The book is available now from onelovebooks.com.
