The latest edition of British Phonographic Industry’s (BPI) and Entertainment Retailers Association’s (ERA) Insight Session will define the role of the album in the streaming era.

The event will explore the relevance of the format in today’s music market, consider its continuing appeal to artists and outline its role in future music consumption.

A new report from MIDiA Research founder Mark Mulligan, entitled Long Player: Defining a role for the album in the streaming era, will also be presented.

This will be followed by a panel discussion and presentations from record labels, digital retail and artist representatives, including musician J.Willgoose Esq. of Public Service Broadcasting.  The full line-up will be announced shortly.

Priority attendance will go to BPI/ERA members, but the organisers will also look to accommodate requests from the wider music community. Learn more

The session will take place on 10 October, as part of the week-long build up to the first-ever National Album Day on 13 October.

A key aim of National Album Day is to celebrate the UK’s love of the album and to enable a national conversation around the format.
