The Night With…, a new Glasgow-based concert series, has opened its inaugural call for scores from anonymous emerging composers.

Up to six successful works will be chosen for a workshop with the quartet on 2 May.

At the end of the session, one winner will be selected to feature in The Night With… Aurea Quartet concert on the following evening, 3 May.

All scores must be submitted under a pseudonym and any scores with identifying marks will be discarded.

They must be between five and 10 minutes long, and should not have been premiered already.

The deadline for entries is 24 February 2017.

Composer, orchestrator and producer Matthew Whiteside, founder of the The Night With… concert series, said: ‘This call for scores is as much about finding and supporting interesting new music and composers as finding a new work that will fit within the programme.’

Whiteside aims to develop it into a monthly event programme running for six months of the year.

It will include new commissions performed by quality Scottish and international players, promoting music from all eras but with a bias toward the contemporary.
