Music industry information hub MusicTank has announced details of Moneyballing Music: Big Data, Consumers and A&R, its first debate of the year.
Taking place on 10 March at the University of Westminster, the event will bring together some leading music industry professionals to examine how the recorded music sector is currently collecting and using data to inform artist development.
The session will also explore how data analysis can be used to help minimise investment risk through deeper understanding of consumer demand.
Jack Fyer, head of Research at Universal Music UK; digital media specialist and former Musicmetric executive chairman, Jeremy Silver, career A&R Korda Marshall, founder of Infectious Music and digital, mobile and social media marketing guru, Kim DeRuiter, Samsung Electronics are among the speakers.
Keith Harris, MusicTank chairman, said: ‘A couple of years ago I heard someone say ‘data is the new oil’. I didn’t fully appreciate the significance of that statement.
‘What a difference a few years makes ... we’ll look at the challenges and opportunities and ask what the future holds for this increasingly data-centric industry.’
The event will begin with a presentation of an insight paper, Moneyballing Music by Universal marketing assistant Prithwijit Mukerji.
