Alt-j producer Charlie Andrew was named as producer of the year at the annual Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards.
Taking place last night (3 February) at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London the event is a celebration of the contribution and achievements of recording professionals to the music business.
Charlie Andrew won for his work with alt-j, Marika Hackman and Sivu. Winning means he automatically received the 2016 BRIT Award for Best Producer, which was presented at the same time.
Olga Fitzroy and Catherine Marks won the awards for Recording Engineer of the Year and Breakthrough Producer of the Year respectively while FKA twigs won best UK single (Pendulum) and UK album (LP1) of the year.
The event also honoured producer and artist Youth (Martin Glover) with the MPG’s Outstanding Contribution to UK Music Award, sponsored by PPL. He performed after the awards with collaborators including Killing Joke, Alex Paterson and Richard Ashcroft.
Commenting, Tony Platt, MPG Awards director, said: ‘The diversity of talent winning MPG Awards this year is truly outstanding and we are proud to be reflecting the ever rising number of women in the top tier of music making. It was yet another all-round great night for the UK music business.’
