Music Ally has launched a summer-long music business entrepreneur programme for 18 to 25 year olds who want to break into the industry but may lack the support or resources to access opportunities.
The course will run online throughout the summer to ensure candidates can begin learning while the UK is still subject to social-distancing measures.
Paul Brindley, chief executive and co-founder, Music Ally, said: ‘Our aim with this project was always to give something back to the music community in a way which fits our own specialist skills and knowledge. Working with Youth Music has helped us to see where there are gaps in the current music landscape, and hopefully this project will let the next generation of creators and entrepreneurs have a chance to be heard and make a difference irrespective of their background. This in turn should help the creativity and diversity of our national industry.
‘People across the industry have long embraced the knowledge and skills that Music Ally has developed to empower the way they make music and develop careers today. We want to ensure that this is available to everyone in our home country.’
The programme will be supported by Youth Music, a UK registered charity gives young people a chance to make music whatever their backgrounds. Music marketing platform Linkfire and analytics company Chartmetric will provide free access to their tools to eligible participants in the programme; and a network of mentors, starting off with veteran manager, investor and technology executive Troy Carter; and producer, DJ and entrepreneur GENIUS will help provide advice, ears and guidance to the participants.
Following the launch Music Ally and Youth Music will expand the network of mentors on the programme and will also add more UK networks supporting young people to further promote the programme.
