The Musicians’ Union (MU) is hosting open meetings covering sexual harassment in the music industry, following revelations in recent weeks from women working across the cultural sectors.
The next instalment is planned for London on 14 November, following on from an inaugural session in Manchester earlier this week.
The drop-in events allow musicians to talk about their experiences with others working in the industry, and consider ways the MU could offer further support and be a catalyst for change.
They also promote discussion around the kind of action that is required to protect musicians at work - be that as employed members of staff or freelancers - and look at the measures that can be taken to improve workplaces across the industry.
The meetings are hosted by MU officials, who will treat all stories shared in the strictest confidence.
These events are an information gathering exercise, as well as an opportunity for peer-to-peer support across the music industry.
The London event takes place from 3pm to 5pm at Arts Theatre Bar, Great Newport Street. Email naomi.pohl@theMU.org to register.
For those unable to attend the events, the MU said it can still offer support and guidance on sexual harassment, exploitation or abuse at work. Find your regional support team for more info.
