Metal bands Motorhead and Black Sabbath have both been honoured at this year’s Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.
The former, who are best known for frontman Lemmy’s wild ways and 1980 hit Ace of Spades, was presented with the Golden God prize for their contribution to the genre. The band has been together for the best part of 40 years.
Fellow rock veterans Black Sabbath were also honoured at the event with the prize for best UK band. The award marks a big week for the group after they claimed their first number one for more than 40 years with their latest album, 13.
Alexander Milas, editor of Metal Hammer magazine, said: ‘From honoring the lords of our world Black Sabbath and the crown princes of rock and roll Motorhead as well as today's most cutting-edge acts, there's simply no other event like it.’
British band Bleed From Within were named as the winners of the gong for best new band.
