This year’s MOBO UnSung emerging talent competition is now open for entries.

The nationwide search for unsigned talent will culminate in the selection of 10 finalists, known as the MOBO UnSung Class of 2018.

All finalists will enter a year-long artist development programme of industry and production workshops, performance and networking opportunities and guidance, facilitated by MOBO and its partners.

In addition, the winner will receive the chance to create their own music video produced by Link Up TV, as well as the potential opportunity to perform at one of Craig David’s 2019 UK arena dates. The winner will also receive a distribution package from TuneCore.

Other activities and opportunities for the top three finalists will include a 12-month bursary membership to The Hospital Club, as well the opportunity to perform at the MOBO UnSung Showcase at the venue.

They will also receive studio time with producers at Tileyard Studios, London, and a MOBO UnSung bursary, granted by PRS Foundation, which will help them fund an aspect of development of their own choosing.

MOBO and other leading music industry professionals will select the top 20 from the long list of entrants.

The public will then be given the opportunity to choose the top 10, who will go on to perform in front of a judging panel to decide the eventual MOBO UnSung 2018 winner.

Those who wish to enter MOBO UnSung 2018 can do so via www.mobo.com/unsung, with the first stage closing on 7 August.

MOBO UnSung is supported by PRS Foundation and Arts Council England.

Kanya King CBE, chief executive and founder of MOBO, said: ‘MOBO has supported a huge amount of new and emerging talent who went on to obtain commercial success. It is with this legacy that we are proud to launch MOBO UnSung 2018 and search the country for “under the radar” talent.

‘Through MOBO UnSung, which has built a reputation for talent discovery, MOBO continues to be a driving force for championing and celebrating talent at all levels, thereby contributing to the diversity and commercial success of the British music industry and the economy at large.’

Vanessa Reed, chief executive, PRS Foundation, added: ‘We’re delighted to continue our support for the MOBO UnSung initiative. It provides a fantastic platform for talented emerging artists, and boasts some impressive outcomes including signings to major labels, performances at major festivals and tours across the UK. I look forward to seeing this year’s exciting shortlist of artists and following their journeys through this great initiative.’
