British singer songwriter Sam Smith dominated the MOBO Awards 2014 picking up four prizes including best male and best album.
Taking place last night (22 October) at London’s SSE Wembley arena, the event saw some of the biggest names in urban music gather to celebrate.
Sam, who is enjoying an incredible year of success, received gongs for best male, best r’n’b and soul act as well as awards for best song and best album for his debut, In the Lonely Hour.
Earlier in the day, he received the prize for best newcomer at the Q Awards to add to his best-selling debut album of the year.
Speaking to the Guardian, Sam said: ‘This is truly a dream come true. It feels amazing. I hardly ever win awards and I never got awards in school for anything so it is really surreal for me to have five in one day. I don’t know where I’ll put them all. I need a cabinet. Well actually I need a house big enough for a cabinet.’
Other MOBO winners included Jessie J for best female and Rudimental collaborator Ella Eyre for best newcomer.
