The news of the new appointments come as the Music Managers Forum (MMF) reports a membership increase of 25 percent year-on-year to achieve an all-time high.
General manager Fiona McGugan will graduate to the new position of strategy and operations director, while Joseph Lever becomes the first ever industry relations and events manager, with the changes effective immediately.
Fiona joined the MMF in 2012 and has been key in founding and developing the Accelerator Programme for Music Managers, the training initiative launched in partnership with Arts Council England, the Scottish Music Industries Association and YouTube in 2019.
Meanwhile Joseph was awarded the Jazz Summers Future Genius internship programme, launched by the MMF and Big Life Management in 2017.
After joining the MMF in January 2018, he led the development of the organisation’s Education Association Programme.
Annabella Coldrick, chief executive officer, MMF, says: ‘The past 12 months has seen some truly exciting changes at the MMF. We are a really small hands-on team, but we punch above our weight and I am delighted to recognise the hard work of Fiona and Joseph in delivering truly groundbreaking initiatives like Accelerator and our Education Associate Programme.
‘Along with Nicky Carder and Paul Bonham, both have taken ownership of these in-house projects and consistently over-delivered. As a result, we have seen the MMF attract a record number of manager and Associate members.’
The organisation recently relocated to new offices at the Ministry of Sound and currently represents 660 UK-based managers.
The current membership is more than 30 percent female, with 35 percent aged under 30 and 20 percent form BAME backgrounds.
