Calling all producers - apply to enter Samplethon and produce a new track using pre-cleared material from Universal Publishing Production Music.

WhoSampled will host the second edition of the event - the world’s first Hackathon for music producers - in association with Bruton Music and Metropolis Studios on 28 November.

The competition will allow up and coming producers to sample pre-cleared material from Universal Publishing Production Music’s famed Bruton Music label.

20 producers will be given access to sample material and challenged to produce a new track using the provided material against the clock, with mentorship from a team of world- class producers, among them Mercury Prize winner Roni Size, Digital Soundboy’s Breakage and The Herbaliser’s Ollie Teeba.

Andrew Stannard, senior producer and manager of Bruton Music, said: ‘Samplethon is an amazing opportunity for us to get our music out to new producers and it will be exciting to hear what they’ve done. The creativity of what can be done with samples, for me is a thrill to hear.’

Nadaz Poraz, WhoSampled’s chief executive officer and founder, adds: ‘This is a rare opportunity to sample from these highly regarded recordings performed by world class musicians, free from the legal shackles often associated with sampling.’

The day will conclude with a judging session where industry experts will choose the winner. These will be submitted for inclusion on a forthcoming release alongside tracks created by established producers. That will also go on to form part of the prestigious Bruton Music library.
