For three weeks in January, the studio will open its doors to self-funded artists, and those signed to independent labels, so they can record with an award winning engineering team.

Metropolis has partnered with PRS for Music, BMI, AIM, The Vinyl Factory, PledgeMusic and Record of the Day to create the initiative, dubbed the Indie Music Festival.

Artists who wish to apply for studio access should download the form on Metropolis’ website and return to indielabelfestival@metropolis-group.co.uk by 23 November.

A team from Metropolis and its partners will consult and select the artists who they feel will gain the most from the experience and opportunity offered by the festival. All successful applicants will be notified by early December and dates will be offered at that time. The Indie Music Festival will then run from 7 to 27 January 2013.

Artists selected for the festival can hire the studios for between £300-£400 per day, a rate that includes studio hire, engineer and assistant costs. In addition, Metropolis has partnered with leading British vinyl manufacturing company The Vinyl Factory to offer a discount on CD and record manufacture rates.

Metropolis has also partnered with PledgeMusic to enable artists to self-fund to apply for the scheme.

The festival will culminate in an indie label record fair at the studio complex in Chiswick, which will open its doors for the first time to the public, giving people a rare chance to see inside the studios that created classic tracks for Queen, Elton John, The Kills, Lana Del Ray, Adele, Amy Winehouse and the Libertines.

‘This is a really exciting opportunity for Metropolis to discover and support new talent,’ said Sam Wheat, Chief Engineer, Metropolis.

Jules Parker from PRS for Music added: ‘As a passionate supporter of new music PRS for Music is proud to be part of this initiative. The event will mean that new songwriters and artists will have a chance to record their songs in one of the world’s best studios and work with some of the UK’s leading companies.’
