Following a successful trial period, the end-to-end music licensing solution, which allows content creators to access commercial music for use in digital media, will now handle this growing area of MCPS mandated licensing.
MCPS, the collecting society administered by PRS for Music, currently licenses the mechanical rights in musical works and pays the resulting royalties to its members.
Its new partnership with CueSongs reflects the society’s ambition to increase sync licensing royalties for UK songwriters and publishers, while improving conversion rates from the large number of license enquiries coming in to MCPS.
Jane Dyball, chief executive of MCPS, said: ‘CueSongs is totally focused on the business of sync licensing and is already a MCPS trusted partner in other areas of business, so we are looking forward to seeing rapid results.’
Ed Averdieck, co-founder and chief executive of CueSongs, added: ‘It is a huge honour to have been selected by the MCPS as their partner for sync licensing. We are looking forward to working with MCPS to increase the royalties from this burgeoning area for their members.
‘This is in line with our quest to open up a whole new market place for music licenses, unearthing long-tail income streams for songwriters and artists by providing a customer focused one-stop licensing solution.’
CueSongs already has close working partnerships with leading UK publishers and over 1,500 songwriters to proactively increase their licensing revenues from digital and online media.
