Marcella Puppini, the mayoress of Camden, is to launch an initiative showcasing new musicians.

Singer and producer Marcella will be hosting her Mayoress Presents monthly event in the borough to highlight the best in emerging musical talent.

Marcella is founder of The Puppini Sisters and of Marcella and The Forget Me Nots and was appointed as mayoress of Camden due to her contribution to the music industry.

The singer songwriter said: ‘I have always been passionate about promoting musicians who not only offer something different but also excel at offering something different.

‘Camden is the creative heartbeat of London’s music scene, and since being appointed Mayoress in May, I have been looking into how I can use my background, contacts and experience to provide a platform which enables and empowers some of the truly excellent musicians we have to reach a wider audience than they might otherwise be able to.’

According to organisers, each performance will be filmed and the video content made available for artists to share via their own social networks.

Each artist will also be supplied with technical support, including full backline, for each performance.

The Mayoress Presents will launch on Sunday 20 October at Proud Camden and will be a monthly event thereafter. The first night will feature Viktoria Modesta, The Lottery Winners, The Actionettes and DJ El Conchitas.
