Jazz trumpet player Matthew Halsall is to release latest album When The World Was One with the Gondwana Orchestra.

The Mancunian musician will release the new record on 16 June - it will be the recording debut of his larger ensemble featuring the likes of Nat Birchall, saxophone, Gavin Barras, bass and Rachael Gladwin, harp, pianist Taz Modi and Cinematic Orchestra drummer Luke Flowers.

A press release said: ‘His latest album When The World Was One is something of a companion piece to [previous release] Fletcher Moss Park (much of the music was written at the same time) but draws more explicitly on Halsall’s love of spiritual jazz and Eastern music as well as his own studies in meditation and travels in Japan.’
