Sound artist Matt Lewis is collaborating with ten deafblind people on How in the World do we Know?, a performance and installation in Finsbury Park.

The event will be held in the park on 13 December at 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00 and follows three months of workshops with the participants.

Matt's collaboration sees all performers working with sounds at the edge of and beyond human auditory perception.

Matt Lewis said: ‘We wanted to explore the infinite ways we all engage with music and sound using all our senses and not just our hearing. Throughout the sessions we tried different instruments, played with distortion, danced, made field recordings of the local area and experimented with hand-held vibrating metronomes and multi-channel installations.

‘The result is three semi-improvised performances and a sound installation that attempt to shed light on the deaf/blind experience of music and ultimately all human perception.’

The performance was created during a series of sound workshops held at the Park Theatre, in partnership with national deafblind charity Sense.

It is also part of A Million Minutes, an Islington Council Project supported by Arts Council England.
