The Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) has appointed Mark Lawrence as its first chief executive officer (CEO).

The announcement was made at a board meeting of the body held at the International Music Summit (IMS) in Ibiza.

Previously, Mark spent ten years working for UK collection society PRS for Music – his most recent position was as director of membership and rights looking after the interests of the organisation’s 100,000 plus membership.

AFEM is a trade association set up to represent the interests of companies and individuals working within electronic music - the body has already worked with many leading labels, managers and promoters as well artist ambassadors Nile Rodgers and Jean-Michael Jarre.

Ben Turner, manager of Richie Hawtin and Rob da Bank and co-founder of Ibiza dance music summit IMS, said: ‘We have defined the mission of AFEM, our founding board members and ambassadors have demonstrated their support.

'It's now Mark's responsibility to help us turn AFEM into an effective advocacy body which delivers real benefits to members.’
