Charity Making Music will be renewing its focus on encouraging the integration of young people into adult choirs thanks to a donation from the late Pauline Thompson OBE.
The organisation has received a £140,000 donation from the legacy fund.
According to the charity, it plans to use the money on stimulating demand for amateur choral singing workshops aimed at young people. A Making Music Young People coordinator will also be employed to ensure the project’s longer term success.
Barbara Eifler, executive director of Making Music, said: ‘Making Music is thrilled to be entrusted with this donation.
‘In the past a lack of resources has limited our ability to develop in-depth research and activity tools, which could lead to greater integration of young people with adult amateur music groups. With this legacy, we will be able to really make a difference.’
The charity is also hoping to commission a songbook for adult and children’s voices as a tribute to Pauline.
