The BPI’s five day mission, covering Sydney and Melbourne, will provide an excellent introduction to what is now the world’s sixth largest music market. UK repertoire currently holds a 20 percent market share down under and digital music sales grew by 36 percent in 2011, with many new services such as Spotify and Deezer launching this year.
Key speakers this year will include Michael Gudinski (Frontier Touring/Mushroom), John Watson (Gotye management), Brett Cottle (CEO Australian Performing Rights Association), ARIA’s Dan Rosen, Nick O’Bryan (GM Australian Independent Record Labels AIR) and Chris Scadden from Triple J radio.
Topics covered in the programme include licensing, distribution, publishing, live, sync, digital, retail, A&R and the chance for delegates to meet a wide range of local executives looking to do business with UK companies.
The trade mission is open to all UK companies, but space is limited so get your applications in early. BPI members will get priority.
For further details and to register for the mission, visit http://www.bpi.co.uk/our-work/international-work/article/bpi-trade-mission-to-australia-2012.aspx.
There will be an open meeting at the BPI office on Wednesday 15 August (lunchtime) if you wish to find out more. Information about the mission, registration and open meeting can be obtained by emailing Debi.Blackgrove@bpi.co.uk
The mission is supported by MPA and Record of the Day.
