Music industry experts will be offering careers advice for new composers at the Incorporated Society of Musicians’ (ISM) Make Music Work event.
Taking place on 31 March 2015 at the Guildhall School’s Milton Court in London, panellists from the Royal College of Music, PRS for Music Foundation and Faber Music will be participating.
These music industry experts will offer their top tips on how new and emerging composers can build a career in the music industry. Sessions will explore how artists can develop a distinctive ‘voice’ and mitigate risk.
Deborah Annetts, chief executive of the ISM, said: ‘There is no doubt that today’s musical environment is both full of opportunities but also threats.
‘The importance of building a career using all kinds of tools and platforms has never been greater. Emerging artists need to be not just fine musicians but also creative entrepreneurs. With this in mind the ISM has curated Make Music Work - which combines both live music and panel discussions tackling key issues with contributions from prominent music leaders and young performers and composers.'
Live music performances on the day will include Westcombe Brass, Ben Baker, Juice Vocal Ensemble, Gabriella Swallow and Ksenija Sidorova.
