On Sunday night we said farewell to London 2012 and the Olympic Games, with the closing ceremony mirroring the opening ceremony with a celebration of British music.
Madness played several tracks from their catalogue, including Our House, a song which was chosen to reflect the rich cultural diversity that makes up modern day Britain. After playing to a combined audience of over a billion people, Madness now wish to celebrate by releasing new track Death of a Rudeboy for free.
The track is part of a new album, although no released date has yet been disclosed. It is available to download from Madness' blog as well as on iTunes as part of a bundle, featuring a remix from Andrew Weatherall.
The kaleidoscopic spectacular also featured two performances from Scottish songstress Emile Sandé, the Spice Girls erupting from illuminated black cabs to ziggah zig ahs, and the Pet Shop Boys singing while riding around on post modern mock-ups of Roman Chariots.
