The Great Escape convention begins in Brighton next week, and M will be there to bring you highlights from the event’s essential panel discussions and most vital gigs.
M will host a week of coverage from The Great Escape, beginning on Monday 9 May, with a series of artist interviews, gig reviews and industry news.
PRS for Music is hosting the opening day on Thursday 12 May, and has organised industry talks, panel debates, keynote speakers and a networking session to address all the issues that matter most to members. Click here for a rundown of the day’s events.
The society has also organised a showcase event, with live music from four emerging artists Dinosaur Pile-Up, Bones and Hind Ear. All three bands are currently PRS for Music Featured Artists this week.
The Great Escape was founded in 2006, and quickly established itself as Britain’s answer to the Texan showcase South by South West.
It takes place over three days every May, kicking off the festival season and introducing 15,000 music lovers to the key artists and sounds of the year.
With over 300 bands playing in 30 venues over the convention, The Great Escape is a key date in the UK’s music calendar. In addition to pre-publicised performances, impromptu street gigs spring up all over town.
The Alternative Escape, numerous club nights, label parties, industry showcases, unique collaborations and outdoor gigs all add to the festivities.
