Attention all female solo artists and songwriters – applications for the Lynsey De Paul Prize 2018 are now open!

The prize will award a development bursary of £2,500 to one outstanding female solo artist, with £1,200 also being awarded to three runners up. Both the winner of the prize and the runners up will receive £500 of mentoring and support from a music industry expert.

The award is now into its fourth year after being established in 2015 to honour multi-award-winning songwriter Lynsey De Paul and her commitment to championing women in the music industry.

Spearheaded by the PRS Foundation and PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund, the initiative has so far helped 15 emerging artists take the next step in their careers with financial support and expert advice.

Amy Fitz Doyley, Elsa Hewitt and Emma McGrath have all been selected as winners through past years.

Joe Frankland, senior grants and programmes manager at PRS Foundation said: ‘Through the Lynsey de Paul Prize we’re proud to have championed and given early support to talented emerging solo female music creators who have gone on to further develop their careers.’

‘For example, it’s great to see most recently that 2015 winner Emma McGrath’s latest track has received over one million streams and 2016’s winner Elsa Hewitt will be performing at Apple’s flagship Regent Street store as part of the London Mayor’s Sounds Like London. I’m looking forward to seeing who applies to this year’s prize and the impact this support will have.’

To apply, artists must submit a video application before 19 July. Find out how to submit your video and more about the award here.
